We are an association that encourages sustainablepractices in tourism  to protect andbring value to the natural and cultural heritage promoting the socio-economicdevelopment of the country.

Vision

We shall be recognized as the tourism association thatwill lead and promote the differentiation of sustainable tourism through publicpolicy, information and education for the responsible development in tourism.

What is CANAECO?

The National Chamberof Ecotourism, (CANAECO) is a nonprofit and private organization that unitespeople and companies involved in ecotourism in our country.

  All companies or individuals members who love ecotourism and the preservationof nature and the environment.

Why we exist: Ecotourism

Ecotourismis that segment that specializes in sustainable (responsible) tourism. Itpromotes and supports conservation of nature and the cultural values of thedestinations, interpreting them for the client, encouraging the socio economicimprovement of the local communities and continues to sensitize and satisfy theclients in an ethical manner.

Theobjectives of CANAECO:

-Gather together people, associations, organizations,chambers and sympathetic entities that are involved in ecotourism activities.

-Promote the development and reinforcement ofecotourism.

-To act as the representative body of the ecotourismsector when facing national and international entities, both public andprivate.

-Propose policies and defense the interest of theecotourism sector when facing national and international entities, both publicand private.

-To form a consciousness of ecotourism as an instrumentfor the economic development and the conservation of the natural resources andthe culture of the country.

-Defend the natural and cultural heritage of thecountry.

-Encourage the use of the natural and culturalresources of the country in a sustainable manner.

-Define and divulge the ethical and practical conceptsthat guarantee the sustainability of ecotourism, as well as safeguarding anddefending its implementation.

-Encourage the education and training in order toguarantee the economical, socio cultural, and environmental sustainability ofecotourism for the members as well as for the community at large.

-Offer advice to the members.

-Be the source of information to the ecotourism sector.

-Reinforce the relationships within the ecotourismsector, through the interchange of information and the mutual support andcreation the forums and discussion areas.

-Create and catalyze technical, legal and economicassistance for the development of the ecotourism sector in Costa Rica,without excluding assistance to ecotourism activities for other countries thatmay request help in this matter.

-Collaborate effectively with all those institutions,groups and associations, whether public or private, national or international,that work proactively in the conservation of the biodiversity and the wellbeing of the countries.
