Heliconias Rural Tourism Lodge has developed an ambitious Project, proudly managed and maintained by ten feisty local families. This lodge is a pioneer Project in ecotourism development in the Northern Region of Costa Rica (Area of Bijagua, Upala, the slopes of Tenorio and Miravalles Volcano).
Heliconias owns a private rainforest reserve of a total of 70 hectares, in which three types of trails have been built as well as three suspension bridges, which can be explored with a local naturalist guide to provide you with more information.
The lodge consists of 6 rooms and 4 private Cottages surrounded by beautiful gardens with native flowers and views of the Bijagua Valley and Lake Nicaragua. There are 6 cabins (Standard Rooms) fully furnished with closets, nightstands, a desk, a private bathroom with hot water, and chairs on the balcony from which you can enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Nicaragua and Miravalles Volcano. We offer 4 private Cottages with beautiful architectural designs, with spectacular views of Miravalles Volcano and Lake Nicaragua. They are located in the woods, and each of them has a spacious bedroom, private bathroom with hot water and Jacuzzi, and a balcony from which you can observe beautiful sunrises.
How to get there:
Interamerican Highway San José- Cañas, then take the road to Upala until you reach the village of Bijagua, from Banco Nacional 3 kilometers continuing on the same road, you will find it at your right-hand side. The dirt road is accessible all year round.
